Mint is a fresh, aromatic herb that adds a flavorful twist to teas, desserts, salads, and Asian dishes. It's easy to grow in Auk – just follow the steps below!
In short:
Sow 40–60 seeds per pot, and leave them on the surface — don’t cover with coconut fiber, as mint needs light to germinate.
Keep the temperature at 20 °C (68 °F) or higher for best growth.
Mint germinates in 6–14 days.
Plants are ready for harvest after 4–8 weeks.
Can live for several months in Auk with regular trimming and good care.
Sow 40–60 seeds and leave them on top of the coconut fiber (mint needs light to germinate)
Here’s how to do it:
Fill the pots with coconut fiber (one pack is enough for all pots).
Distribute 40–60 seeds evenly over the surface.
Do not cover with coconut fiber – leave the seeds on top.
Seeds germinate after 6–14 days at 20–24 °C (68–75 °F).
Start harvesting after 4–8 weeks (cut entire stems right above the fiber)
Mint is ready to harvest after 4–8 weeks and will keep growing throughout the season:
Use scissors to cut entire stems just above the fiber.
Harvest full stems from the outer edge — this lets light reach the center of the plant and stimulates fuller growth.
Remove wilted leaves and flower buds to extend the plant's lifespan and preserve flavor.
💡 Mint regrows quickly – the more you harvest, the more it produces!
Start in Auk and repot after 4–8 weeks (when it’s 10 °C / 50 °F or warmer)
Want to grow mint outdoors? Start in Auk and repot when the weather allows:
You can repot young mint plants after 4–8 weeks.
Be gentle with the roots and move the plant to a larger pot or outdoors.
Note: Night temperatures should consistently stay above 10 °C (50 °F).
Mint spreads easily and can survive winter in mild climates.
Fun fact 🌿
Mint contains menthol — a natural compound that triggers cold receptors in the mouth, creating a refreshing, cooling sensation. It can even help ease the burn from spicy food!
