Cocktail tomatoes are slightly larger than cherry tomatoes and have a sweet, rich flavor that makes them perfect for everything from salads to sandwiches. In Auk, you'll get strong, healthy plants – whether you grow them to full size indoors or use Auk for pre-cultivation.
In short:
Sow 1–3 seeds per pot. Keep the strongest sprout.
Cocktail tomatoes sprout in 5–10 days at 22–26 °C / 72–78 °F.
Help with pollination: gently shake the plant or blow on the flowers.
Switch to bloom light and increase nutrients after 5 weeks.
Tomato plants grow tall and may need support stakes.
Harvest when the tomatoes have fully colored (after about 10–14 weeks).
Pre-cultivate cocktail tomatoes by sowing 1–5 seeds and repotting them before they outgrow the space.
Sow 1–3 seeds per pot and keep 1 plant
Tomato plants grow large and need plenty of space and light. If more than one seed sprouts, you can remove the extras or replant them elsewhere.
Here’s how to do it:
Fill the pots with coco fiber (one pack is enough for all the pots).
Spread the seeds evenly across the surface.
Gently press them down into the fiber.
You’ll see sprouts after 5–10 days.
We recommend growing a maximum of 2 tomato plants in the Auk at the same time so they get enough light.
Help with pollination by blowing on or shaking the flowers
Cocktail tomatoes are self-pollinating, but a little help increases your chances of fruit:
Gently shake the plant, blow lightly on the flowers, or use a cotton swab to transfer pollen between blossoms – all of these help with pollination.
Switch to bloom light and increase nutrients after 5 weeks
When your nasturtium plant is about 5 weeks old and starts forming buds, it's time to help it bloom:
Switch to bloom light by tapping the light button 3 times quickly. The light will blink red twice to confirm.
Increase nutrients to 6 pumps of green and 6 of red per full tank.
Support the plant with stakes and trim if needed
Tomato plants often grow tall and thin, and may need support.
You can place a support stick in the fiber next to the plant, and tie it gently with string for stability. We also recommend getting longer plant dowels for growing tomatoes, so the light bar can be positioned higher. You can find these in our webshop.
The cocktail tomato variety from our webshop is a determinate type, which means it usually requires less pruning and trimming. Still, you can:
Look for side shoots (suckers) to remove.
Trim away large leaves that are shading the ones below.
Harvest cocktail tomatoes when fully colored and they detach easily 🍅
Cocktail tomatoes are ready to harvest after about 10–14 weeks, when they’ve developed their full color (red, yellow, or orange depending on the variety) and detach easily from the stem. The fruit should feel firm but yield slightly to gentle pressure.
Cut or snap them off gently – avoid pulling, as it can damage the plant.
💡 Frequent harvesting encourages the plant to produce more flowers and fruit throughout the season.
Pre-cultivate in Auk and repot after 6–8 weeks (when it's 10 °C / 50 °F or warmer)
Want to grow cocktail tomatoes outdoors? You can start them in Auk and repot them when the weather is right:
Sow 1–5 seeds per pot and repot them before they outgrow the space.
You can repot as soon as the plant has young shoots, usually 6–8 weeks after sowing.
Be gentle with the roots and move the plant to a new pot or outdoors.
Nighttime temperatures should be consistently above 10 °C / 50 °F.
Cocktail tomatoes love sun and warmth – a greenhouse gives the best results, but a warm, sunny wall or sheltered spot will also work well.
