Dill is an aromatic herb with a fresh flavor that pairs perfectly with potato salads, fish dishes, sauces, and pickling. It grows quickly and thrives in the Auk.

In short:

  • Sow around 20–40 seeds per pot – press the seeds lightly into the coco fiber.

  • Germinates in 5–9 days.

  • Ready for harvest in 4–8 weeks.

  • Can live for several months in Auk with regular trimming and good care.

  • Great for year-round growing and seed starting.

Sow 20–40 seeds and press them gently into the coco fiber

How to do it:

  • Fill the pots with coco fiber (one pack is enough for all pots).

  • Spread the seeds evenly over the surface.

  • Press them lightly into the fiber.

  • Sprouts appear in 5–9 days.

Harvest dill regularly

Dill is ready for its first harvest 4–8 weeks after sowing, once it reaches about 10–15 cm in height. Regular harvesting not only keeps the plant healthy, but also helps prevent flowering and encourages fresh growth.

  • Trim stems down to 5–10 cm, leaving the base to allow for regrowth.

  • Regular harvesting promotes new growth and helps prevent early flowering.

  • Never harvest more than 1/3 of the plant at once.

💡 Once dill starts to flower, it loses flavor and won’t last as long – trim flower stems as soon as they appear.

Start in Auk and repot after 4–8 weeks (when it’s 8–10 °C / 46–50 °F or warmer)

Want to grow dill outdoors? You can start it in the Auk and repot it when the weather allows:

  • Transplant when the plant has developed strong roots, typically 4–8 weeks after sowing.

  • Handle the roots gently when moving to a new pot or outdoors.

  • Note: nighttime temperatures should be consistently above 8–10 °C / 46–50 °F.

  • Dill tolerates sun and light shade, but prefers a sheltered spot without too much wind.

Fun fact 🌱

Dill has been used for thousands of years – both as a culinary herb and for medicinal purposes. Roman soldiers once chewed dill seeds to stay alert and focused on long marches!

Good luck and enjoy growing! 💚
