Pak choi (also known as bok choy) is an Asian leafy green with juicy stems and mild, sweet leaves. It’s easy to grow in the Auk, grows quickly, and gives you crisp leaves perfect for stir-fries, soups, and salads.
In short:
Sow 1–3 seeds per pot.
Germinates after 5–10 days.
Ready to harvest after 4–6 weeks, depending on temperature.
Prevent flowering by harvesting regularly and maintaining temperatures above 18°C (65°F).
Can live for several months in Auk with regular trimming and good care.
Sow 1–3 seeds per pot (depending on how large you want the plants)
Pak choi develops broad leaves and thick stems, so the plant needs a bit of space around it.
Here’s how:
Fill the pots with coconut fiber (one pack is enough for all the pots).
Distribute the seeds evenly on the surface.
Press them lightly into the fiber.
Seeds will sprout after 5–10 days at 20–24 °C (68–75 °F).
Start harvesting after 4–6 weeks (pick outer leaves or cut the whole head)
You can harvest pak choi in two ways:
Harvest outer leaves regularly, leaving the center intact to promote continued growth.
Alternatively, wait until the plant is fully developed and cut the entire head 2–3 cm above the fiber — it may regrow..
Avoid flowering by harvesting regularly and keeping the temperature above 18 °C (65 °F)
Pak choi may start to flower if not harvested regularly or if exposed to cold or fluctuating temperatures. When it flowers, the leaves become bitter and growth slows down.
To avoid this:
Harvest outer leaves regularly.
Keep the temperature steady and above 18 °C (65 °F).
Remove flower stalks early if they appear.
