Growing fruits and vegetables together with herbs and lettuce

Different plants have different needs

Written by Julie Fjeldseth

For the best growing results, we recommend growing fruiting plants separately from herbs and lettuce, as they have different light and nutrient needs. 🌱

If you still choose to grow them together, you will need to choose between either:

  • Standard Mode (green light) for herbs, lettuce, and young plants, or

  • Boost Mode (red light) for fruiting and vegetable plants

With Standard Mode, it may take longer before your plants produce fruit. With Boost Mode, herbs may start flowering and have a slightly shorter lifespan.

If you want to optimize for the herbs: continue as before, without changing the light or nutrients. Add 6 pumps of both Grow and Flavour nutrients.

If you want to optimize for fruits and vegetables: switch to Boost Mode after 5 weeks and add 6 pumps of Bloom Booster nutrient as well.

Also keep in mind that fruiting and vegetable plants grow large and need a lot of light. We recommend having only one fruiting plant in your Auk if you are growing herbs and lettuce at the same time, so they do not get shaded.
